Best Link Building Blogs To Read 2012

Link Building Blogs to Read and Tweets to Follow

You have to read, LOTS, if you want to keep up with SEO and the link building industry. I recommend following a tight list of authorities on a regular basis and also having a B list of a diverse mix of sources to keep you informed and creatively fresh.

In my previous post I put together the top 20 must read sites for SEO. I then realised that I hadn’t included any specific link building blogs and so have put together the following list of the best link building blogs from the authorities in the link world. You could call em linkerati if you want.

If you follow these blogs and twitter streams you will be kept in the link loop.

THE Link Building Blogs and tweets to follow:

Point Blank SEO

Point blank SEO
I have followed Jon for the last six months and watched a rapid rise to fame in the SEO world. He has employed a text book strategy of guest blogging everywhere (that counts), interviewing industry stars and accepting lots of guest bloggers. His articles cover a wide range of link building strategy, tools and commentary with plenty of guest posts from other link builders. A great source of link building tips.

Garrett is one of the most forward-thinking, creative-minded bloggers in the link world and is a huge proponent of using blogging to network and link build. He is very firmly in the camp of using quality content to attract natural links and writes fantastic in-depth articles about practical tips for link building and using tools to make link building more efficient in his unique quirky style. Ryan Clark Linkbuildr

Ryan Clark
Ryan has been involved in SEO since 2000 and his Linkbuildr blog has a high profile which I have been following for a while now. He can post random articles but he always has something say worth reading. Ryan doesn’t really do any guest posting keeping all the gold on his own blog.

Debra Mastaler

Debra Mastaler
Not many high profile women exist in SEO. Debra has established herself as a leading figure in the community, in 2011 Debra was voted one of the Top SEO Women of 2011. Wiep Knol

Wiep Knol
Wiep describes himself as a creative link marketer based in the Netherlands. The reason I like Wiep’s blog are the curated link building article lists he posts every month or so. Unfortunately last year his posts were a little thin on the ground but I am hoping he will pick up again for 2012. Definitely worth putting this one on your feed so you can check out when he does post.

@wiep

Eric Enge

Eric Enge
The most senior member of this list in terms of industry experience, Eric has been around technology for over 30 years. Eric co wrote the excellent book Art of SEO and writes for Search Engine Land, Search Engine Watch and SEOmoz. The Stone Temple website is a wealth of information and an excellent resource to bookmark. Eric’s blog style is very in-depth with a search and technical SEO edge but his link building articles are always an insightful read.

Eric Ward
Eric Ward
Mr Ward has the most authority on link building in the industry and is the #1 link guy, his style of link building is even endorsed by Matt Cutts. Not technically a blog but Eric’s site is stuffed full of amazing resource articles about link building. I’m a huge, HUGE fan of Eric and his style of link building which I have followed for my own path: using link building to network online for site referrals and not being dependent on Google for traffic.

@sengineland

SEOmoz
I have included this site again as it is such an authority in the SEO world and they often have excellent link relevant articles. Whiteboard friday is always worth taking a ten minute coffee break for and Ran Fishkin is probably the most famous SEO geek in the world. He’s also a fantastic presenter. The youmoz section on the site is user generated articles which can get voted up to the main blog.

I have to add this blog I recently found, Sean (no-one knows his surname) takes a satirical approach to SEO with his SEO Nonsense, Stupidity and Tomfoolery blog. Seriously one of the freshest, funniest bits of writing I am have read in sooo long, I love this blog, it’s even funnier than the Internet episode of the IT Crowd. Must read the about us section where Rank Fishkin interviews Sean, the Secret Diary of an Inbound Marketer and Alternative’ Link Building Ideas. After reading this I really need to up my game.
