What is an infographic?

Infographics or Information graphics are data visualization of information. An infographic will quickly and concisely present information and statistics in a graphic format.

The most famous infographic would have to be the London Underground map designed by Harry Beck in 1931.

Motorway and road signs designed by Jock Kinneir and Margaret Calvert (1967) are classic examples of infographic design at its most functional and elegant.

Infographics have historically been used by computer scientists, mathematicians and statisticians to convey complex information.

In the past few years infographics have been used to promote sites online through social media and outreach campaigns.
